Island Global Yachting Develops Marinas.

Landfall: An Economy of Scale: Palm Islands, The World and Dubai Waterfront

Island Global Yachting (IGY), a leading worldwide developer and manager of luxury marina facilities in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Netherlands Antilles and Mexico, partnered with Nakheel to provide comprehensive design, development, management and environmental engineering services to all of its UAE marina properties, notably The Palm Islands, The World and Dubai Waterfront. Nakheel’s extraordinary waterfront development has created huge demand for marina facilities. There are currently 1,000 berths in Dubai, and it is projected that upon completion of the waterfront projects more than 40,000 slips will be required to meet demand. The five-star marinas will offer state-of-the-art dockage, in-slip fueling, three-phase power, waste pump-out and Internet access, along with restaurants, VIP concierge service, luxury shopping and residences. At the Dubai International Boat Show, IGY exhibited elaborate models and plans for its marina developments. IGY Dubai CEO Ralf Heron says the first to be developed is Dubai Creek Marina: 300 berths for yachts ranging up to 40 meters. Projections for four more marinas along Palm Jumeirah will accommodate 1,700 boats in the same size range. IGY is an affiliate of Island Capital Group LLC, a New York–based real estate merchant banking firm. (Click image to enlarge)
