18th Monaco Yacht Show

This September, the Principality of Monaco will once again host an exceptional fleet of superyachts from the world’s leading shipyards for the 18th annual Monaco Yacht Show. Last year’s show presented 97 superyachts measuring up to 90 meters in length, including 40 world debut launches. The 2008 edition is shaping up to be equally impressive, with many yachts and premieres. Exhibitor space for this year’s show sold out completely seven months in advance. Attracting an international clientele from both the trade and consumer sectors, the 2008 show expects to have 500 exhibitors and 28,000 consumer visitors.

In addition to displaying an extraordinary array of the world’s most distinctive vessels, the show and its organizers provide exhibitors and patrons with several top-of-the-line services during their stay in Monaco. Only Watch insurance specialists will sponsor the Press Lounge and Press Center, while ING Private Banking will back the Business Center. A fleet of courtesy cars will be on hand for visitors, and exhibitors will have access to shuttle buses. Lenôtre Paris will provide meals and refreshments.

A grand occasion such as this one does not go off without official sponsorship, and so several prestigious sponsors will renew their commitment to the show. Notable among these are the Swiss watchmaker Blancpain, which will sponsor for the ninth consecutive year, and the well-known financial institution Compagnie Monégasque de Banque, official sponsor since 2005. Jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels returns for its second year.

Since 2001, the Monaco Yacht Show has supported the Monégasque Association against Muscular Dystrophy, a disease that afflicts children. Auction proceeds and 50 percent of the show’s entrance fee earnings will be donated to the charity. Last year, the charity auction Only Watch raised 2.7 million euros on the second day of the show.

For the fourth running year, the Monaco Yacht Show continues its commitment to protecting the global environment by earning the carbon-neutral label. Acting in support of sustainable development, the show has financed a range of environmental protection projects in association with Camper & Nicholsons to compensate for the carbon dioxide emissions that will be incurred during the four-day event. FLEET OF FANCY
The Monaco Yacht Show is renowned throughout the international yachting scene for being exclusively dedicated to superyachts of at least 25 meters in length. At the 2008 floating exhibition, 95 yachts are expected to attend, including 40 or so that will debut publicly for the first time. Here is a sampling of the various motor yachts and sailing yachts that visitors can expect to see in Port Hercules during the show. Written by Jennifer Soderborg and Taylor Hill.

Oceanco Anastasia The 75.5-meter Anastasia, yard number Y703, is the third and latest yacht recently launched at the Oceanco shipyard in Alblasserdam, the Netherlands. She follows Amevi and Alfa Nero. Australian designer Sam Sorgiovanni’s intent in designing Anastasia’s curved lines was to create a visually exciting form. Sorgiovanni also handled the interior layout, giving her a two-level owner’s suite, two VIPs, three double cabins, a cinema and a massage room. Ten additional double cabins house a 20-person crew. A spacious garage fits an array of toys, including a limousine, sports car and four Jet Skis. A pair of 16V4000 M90 MTUs give her a top speed of 18 knots and a 4,000-nm range. www.oceancoyacht.com (Click image to enlarge)

Lürssen Martha Ann Lürssen’s April delivery, Martha Ann, is sistership to 2006’s Apoise and 2007’s Saint Nicolas. The 70.2-meter yacht formerly known as project Shark will spend the summer in the Med leading up to her Monaco debut. Espen Øino designed the blue-hulled yacht with six decks, a 12.8-meter beam and numerous guest areas. Accommodations include a 130-square-meter owner’s suite on the main deck, four spacious king-size cabins on the lower deck and an additional bridge-deck VIP. The owner’s suite shares the main deck with the main salon and dining area. A round glass elevator dominates the lobby. François Zuretti designed her classically styled interior. Powered by two Cat engines, she has a range of 4,000 nautical miles and will reach speeds up to 15.5 knots. www.lurssen.com
Amnesia. Photograph by Riccardo Novi. (Click image to enlarge)

Benetti Amnesia In February, Benetti launched its new 60-meter, FB245, the third yacht to be commissioned by the same owner. Stefano Natucci and British design studio Redman Whiteley Dixon collaborated to give the new Amnesia a modern and sophisticated design marked by unique details such as streamlined portholes. Amnesia displays a flexible concept of space, granting guests 340 square meters of external areas. Glass and light abound throughout. The accommodations layout includes a VIP cabin and massage room on the upper deck, a 90-square-meter full-beam owner’s suite with dressing area and marble bath on the main deck, and four additional lower-deck guest rooms. Twin Caterpillars give her a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. www.benettiyachts.it

CRN Romance With the help of an owner with an eye for elegance and attention to detail, CRN created this 56.5-meter work of art that houses an owner’s party of 12 and crew of 10. Filled with materials such as onyx, silk and gold, Romance’s interior displays custom-made furniture and handmade silk carpeting throughout. Zuccon International Project handled the exterior/interior design, but the owner had his input on every detail to ensure the realization of his baroque vision. Unique features on board include a fireplace in the upper-deck lounge, a six-meter pool with adjustable current, a sauna and a Turkish bath with aromatherapy area. Romance is powered by two 3512B Cat engines that deliver a cruising speed of 14 knots and a 4,000-nm range. www.crn-yacht.com (Click image to enlarge)

Salute. Photograph by Sargentini and Bianchi. (Click image to enlarge)

Perini Navi Salute While continuing Perini Navi’s 56-meter series, Salute departs from sisterships Burrasca, Santa Maria, Rosehearty and Selene with her sloop rig. Engineered and built in-house, her 75-meter mast is the tallest aluminum mast in the world. The Italian yard worked with Ron Holland to ensure optimal sailing performance, and the result included modified keel and rudder lines to improve stability of the vessel’s mast-induced high center of gravity. Inspired by Perini’s 52-meter ketch Liberty, her deck layout features a 60-square-meter forward cockpit plus the traditional aft cockpit. The owner commissioned French architect Rémi Tessier to give the interior a minimalist Japanese-inspired style. Two MTU 2000 M72 engines power Salute to a 3,600-nm range at 13 knots. www.perininavi.it

Maraya. Photograph by Maurizio Paradisi/Claude Missir. (Click image to enlarge)

CRN Maraya The 54.2-meter steel and aluminum Maraya displays a new design approach from CRN. While her exterior style by Zuccon International Project is a CRN staple, the owner’s request that Claude Missir handle the interior presents a design that relies on channel walnut throughout. Fiber optics and LEDs artfully provide illumination. Nubuk leather is used in the five guest staterooms and owner’s suite, which has a private balcony perched over the sea. The main deck’s 100-square-meter lounge is part of a single area that includes a dining space for 12. The family-oriented owner dedicated the stern portion of the lower deck to a "children’s room" facing out to sea. The engine room, with two Cat 3512Bs, is adjacent to a garage that houses a 7.1-meter Castoldi Jet tender. www.crn-yacht.com

Admiral 54 AMY, the joint venture founded in 2005 by Cantieri Navali Lavagna and the T.Mariotti shipyard in Genoa, has reason to celebrate with the premiere launch of its 54-meter megayacht line. Designed by Luca Dini, the Admiral flagship boasts a black steel hull and light alloy superstructure. Owner and guests alike will enjoy the stern, which is arranged to emulate a "balcony on the sea," and the spacious sun deck complete with a Jacuzzi and sushi bar. The upper deck provides a gym and dining salon for up to 30 guests. Particular attention was paid to reducing noise and vibration levels on board. Two Caterpillar 3516B engines are capable of reaching cruise speeds up to 17.5 knots. Beyond meeting her objectives for style and power, the Admiral 54 obtained Rina Green Star certification for meeting strict environmental regulations. www.admiralyacht.eu (Click image to enlarge)

Vitters Nirvana This 53.5-meter fast-cruising ketch from Vitters and Dubois Naval Architects offers an appealing combination of performance and stability. Despite being a large flybridge sailing yacht, Nirvana has a total draft of no more than three meters, achieved by combining a generous beam and full-bodied hull with a high ballast ratio and pivoting centerboard. The vessel will be particularly appealing to guests wishing to explore shallow coastlines. Dubois teamed with interior designer Josep Juanpere Miret of GCA in Barcelona to give Nirvana a contemporary and elegant style in a textured array of fabrics, leathers and woods, including dark mongoy, light striped oak and dark oak parquet. Five staterooms accommodate the owner’s party. Dual 714-hp Caterpillar C18s power this aluminum sailing yacht to speeds greater than 18 knots in flat water. www.vitters.com (Click image to enlarge)

Red Dragon. Photograph by Ivor Wilkins. (Click image to enlarge)

Alloy Red Dragon This 52-meter Dubois-designed flybridge sloop is no slouch, breaking new ground in style and design to separate herself from predecessor Kokomo. Borrowing Kokomo’s contemporary lines, near-plumb bow, low-profile coachroof and extended aft deck, Red Dragon takes the next step in design with a varnish-free exterior and subtle interior detailing. Her anthracite gray hull is topped by a contrasting white superstructure. Guest accommodations feature mirror-image double suites to port and starboard, with a third twin portside. Starboard is the fully equipped gym with Pullman berth. Alloy’s pursuit of clean lines is furthered by interior design team Wilmotte & Associates, who gave the yacht a sense of internal space enhanced by furniture that appears to float. Red Dragon’s 1,400-hp C32 Cat is supported by two Northern Lights generators. www.alloyyachts.com

Alibella. Photograph by Riccardo Novi. (Click image to enlarge)

Benetti Alibella In addition to Amnesia, Benetti will present 50-meter Alibella (FB238) on the quai. Designed and constructed completely in-house, the steel and aluminum yacht blends tradition and innovation with an Asian flair. Her interior is filled with warm gold and ivory tones, from the carpeting and gold-leaf details up to the lacquered panels of the walls and overheads. Colorful marbles dominate the bathrooms. The main-deck owner’s area includes an ensuite stateroom and study, along with the main lounge, dining and galley areas. An upper-deck study can be transformed into a second owner’s lounge. Belowdecks are four guest cabins, including two doubles and two twins. The helipad-equipped sun deck is well organized for relaxing and sunbathing. Two MTUs give this 425-ton vessel a top speed of 17.5 knots. www.benettiyachts.it
Burger 47 Hull 503 debuts as Burger Boat Company’s largest yacht to date. Vripack designed the 46.6-meter megayacht as a refined go-anywhere explorer. The custom tri-deck boasts 467 square meters inside and 386 square meters of exterior recreational space. Her "neo-classical" interior motif is enriched by book-matched, raised-panel Honduras mahogany. The ultra-lux king-size accommodations feature ensuite baths with heated floors. Her striking stairways include the central interior staircase with a recessed mahogany railing and a glass-enclosed exterior flydeck staircase. There is also a wheelchair-friendly elevator that accesses all four levels. Twin Caterpillar 3058B engines grant this Burger-Vripack design a maximum speed of 15 knots and a 4,000-nm range. ABS-classed and MCA-compliant, she is ready to cruise the world. Hop on! www.burgerboat.com (Click image to enlarge)

Timmerman Alexandra Russia’s Timmerman Yachts sent 46.5-meter Alexandra home in June, one year after launching the Timmerman 47 at its Moscow shipyard. Vripack Yachting International devised the yacht’s naval architecture and exterior styling, while English studio Bannenberg Designs handled her interior. The four-deck vessel sleeps 12 guests in five cabins, and there is additional space for a crew of 10. With a range of 4,000 nautical miles from two 720-hp Caterpillar diesels when cruising at 10.5 knots, this steel and aluminum yacht can travel around the world on just five refuelings. Her reinforced hull even enables her to run through broken ice. A Heinen & Hopman climate system ensures guest comfort on board. www.timmermanyachts.com (Click image to enlarge)

Wally Saudade An experienced yachtsman commissioned the new Wally 148, Saudade, at the WallyEurope facility in Fano, Italy. Developed from the smaller Wally 143 Esense, the 45-meter performance sloop is the largest Wally yet. Her 150-ton displacement and lifting keel combine to create an around-the-world vessel that is fast and spacious. The low, aggressive deckhouse complements the yacht’s sleek lines. A permanent bimini extends the structure. Up to 10 guests and six crewmembers may be accommodated on board. Wally will also display the 30.5-meter Y3K, which made an appearance at last year’s show. This smaller sloop evolved from the Wally 94 Angel’s Share and is another expert combination of German Frers lines and classic Wally styling. www.wally.com (Click image to enlarge)

Harle. Photograph by ©Visions. (Click image to enlarge)

Feadship Harle The 44.7-meter motor yacht Harle was launched last October at Feadship’s Royal Van Lent shipyard. With naval architecture and exterior styling from De Voogt, she is the yard’s second F45 Vantage series hull. Harle’s interior from Sinot Design Associates, themed "Miami"—one of the semi-custom line’s four available finishes—features classic art deco styling with contrasting wood paneling and clearly defined spaces. The full-beam owner’s suite has a high central ceiling with a skylight. There is room on the main deck for eight guests in four staterooms. Five additional cabins will house a crew of 10. Her twin 12V2000 M70 MTUs provide a top speed of 14.5 knots. www.feadship.nl

Salperton. Photograph by Ed Holt. (Click image to enlarge)

Fitzroy Salperton The stunning 44-meter, ShowBoats International Award-winning Salperton designed by Dubois Naval Architects and Adam Lay Studio is also scheduled to make an appearance in Monaco. She is the fourth Dubois design to be built at Fitzroy Yachts in New Zealand. Both thrilling to sail and comfortable to live aboard, Salperton is characterized by a sloop rig design, sleek lines, a long waterline and high-aspect-ratio sail plan. She draws 15 feet with her daggerboard raised and 23 feet with it lowered. In addition to the owner’s suite, Salperton has three guest staterooms finished in oak and walnut joinery with wengé accents. Lloyd’s classed and MCA compliant, this 237-ton aluminum yacht reaches a top speed of 14 knots assisted by an 875-hp C18 Caterpillar engine. www.duboisyachts.com

Heesen 4400 Heesen Yachts’ semi-custom, semi-displacement 4400 series debuted last year with Sedation. Six hulls have sold since the series’ launch. The third in the series and the latest hull, Sibelle, splashed at the Heesen yard in April. Heesen will display one of these 44-meter hulls in Monaco. Featuring in-house naval architecture and exterior/interior design by Omega Architects, the 4400 is characterized by smooth shapes and light-colored wood throughout. In addition to the full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck, there are four lower-deck guest rooms and a versatile skylounge that can serve as a media room or be converted into a VIP. Three lower-deck cabins house a crew of six. Twin 16V4000 M90 MTUs give this full-aluminum motor yacht a range of 3,200 nautical miles at 12 knots. www.heesenyachts.nl (Click image to enlarge)

Panther 2. Photograph by Mondomarine Archive. (Click image to enlarge)

Mondomarine Panther 2 Mondomarine is set to premiere its April launch, Panther 2, in Monaco. This 41.6-meter semi-displacement motor yacht is the sistership to the original Panther launched in 2007. While closely resembling her predecessor, exterior stylist Giorgio Vafiadis added a few new elements, including the extended windows on the wide-body area of the main deck. Her Luca Dini interior is where Panther 2 truly gains her identity, with a unique layout that includes a salon and owner’s suite on the main deck, five lower-deck double guest cabins and a living room in the open space of the upper deck. Punches of red accent the low, neutral-colored furnishings. Two 2,255-hp engines power this light aluminum alloy yacht to a cruising speed of 18 knots for a range of 3,000 nautical miles. www.mondomarine.it

Rodriquez YachtPlus 1 Fractional ownership company YachtPlus, formed in 2005 by a group of financial investors, launches its first luxury superyacht this September. The innovative YachtPlus 1 designed by Norman Foster will be the first of 10 identical 41-meter yachts to be built over the next three years at the Rodriquez Cantieri Navali shipyard in La Spezia, Italy. The modern vessel’s four decks include five suites for up to 12 guests, who will be taken care of by a highly trained permanent crew of seven. Owners may choose the interior décor down to the crockery, cutlery, fabrics and crew uniforms. The YachtPlus ownership program gives owners an eighth shared ownership of the yacht for an eight-year contract period, which guarantees 30 full days aboard the yacht each year. The second YachtPlus is set to launch in early 2009. www.yachtplus.com (Click image to enlarge)

Horizon Kamaxitha Drettmann, a company based in the Balearic Islands that distributes the Elegance Yachts range built in Taiwan by Horizon, presents the 39.6-meter Kamaxitha in Monaco. Kamaxitha is the combined effort of naval architect and exterior stylist Tommaso Spadolini and interior designer Claudia Drettmann. The 200-ton yacht features a state-of-the-art cockpit, plush staterooms and a Jacuzzi on the flybridge. Power comes from two optioned M91 MTU diesels. The first Horizon Premier 130+, Miss Rose, is expected to join Kamaxitha on the water in Port Hercules. This tri-deck motor yacht is the largest megayacht ever built in Taiwan. She features a modern design from Florida-based stylist J.C. Espinosa. www.drettmann.com

Oras. Photograph by Scott Pearson. (Click image to enlarge)

Westport Oras Hull No. 1523 of Westport’s restyled 130 series generated great excitement and garnered several sales when it appeared at last year’s Fort Lauderdale boat show. On the 39.6-meter Oras, raised-panel mahogany with crotch veneers replaces the usual cherry interior. A few walls found on the old 130 are also missing, adding interior light and enhancing ocean views. Moving the skylounge dayhead behind the television opened up the stairway and made space for an office/library, while creating a sightline from the seating area to the bridge. Doing away with a kitchen doorway and wall opened up the galley’s starboard side. Architectural hardware from SA Baxter upgrades the previous push-pull button latches. A long list of premium standard features enhances the cruising experience for guests when speeding along at a brisk 28 knots. www.westportyachts.com

Timmerman Kitty The first Timmerman 40 oceangoing superyacht, built for Russia’s Nakhimov Corporation, launched in late April. Formerly a serial design, the 39.5-meter custom-built Kitty underwent 50 principal changes to her construction and systems to satisfy her owner. The steel and aluminum yacht, constructed and styled by Vripack, sports a sun deck atop a light gray hull. Dutch designer René van der Velden created her modern-classic interior in cooperation with the Cannes-based interior design company Larvor. Four decks accommodate 10 to 12 guests in five cabins, while four additional cabins provide sleeping quarters for a crew of eight. The DNV-classed Kitty purrs across the Atlantic on two Caterpillar engines at speeds up to 12.5 knots. www.timmerman-yachts.com (Click image to enlarge)

Sanlorenzo 40 Alloy. Photograph by Maurizio Baldi. (Click image to enlarge)

Sanlorenzo 40 Alloy The first hull of Sanlorenzo’s new 40 Alloy series, 4H, will take home this year’s ShowBoats International Award for Best New Series Under 40 Meters. Like 4H, the second 40 Alloy on display at this year’s show features general concept, exterior styling, interior layout and décor by Francesco Paszkowski. The innovative 38.5-meter yacht, built by Sanlorenzo’s new Viareggio division, marries the open-air lifestyle of a sailboat with the luxury and performance of a motor yacht. To create this feel, four hydraulically operated terraces were incorporated into the main-deck bulwarks—two off the salon and one each off the master and the gym—connecting those on board with the sun and the sea. Twin 12V4000 M90 MTUs power this all-aluminum vessel to a 28-knot top speed for a range of 800 nautical miles at a 25-knot cruise. www.sanlorenzoyacht.com

Hakvoort Perle Bleue Well-known yachtsman Stanley Bey and his wife scaled down when they moved from their 45-meter Hakvoort Campbell Bay to the 38-meter Perle Bleue by the same Dutch builder. Winner of this year’s ShowBoats International Award for Best Full-Displacement Motor Yacht Under 50 Meters, Perle Bleue features an imaginative interior by Donald Starkey that displays French Moderne living spaces and an Indochine-styled master stateroom. The walls of the stunning main-deck dayhead reveal the artful joining of a mirror and a slab of rare marble. The wood-paneled interior accommodates eight guests, including generous room for the captain and crew. Naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design meets Lloyd’s and MCA regulations. www.hakvoort.com

Maiora 38DP The new Maiora 38 from Italy’s Fipa Italiana Yachts comes to Monaco straight from her debut in Cannes. The newest 38-meter hull displays a clean profile and wide exterior areas. The upper deck’s panoramic fly is equipped with a bar, barbecue and central folding table. Another table with comfortable seating is found in the roomy cockpit. From here, two side stairs lead down to the bathing platform. Her interior spaces, featuring warm wengé furniture and light-colored leather sofas, resist ostentation. Belowdecks, a spacious owner’s suite spans the yacht’s full beam. Four additional staterooms are devoted to guests, while four fully equipped crew cabins house crewmembers. The vessel’s centralized air-conditioning and stabilization systems improve life on board. Twin 16V2000 M90 MTUs provide her with a 32-knot top end. www.maiora.net (Click image to enlarge)

Perini Navi P2 Launched last June, this 38-meter "gentleman’s yacht" is the first of a new breed for the Italian company geared toward performance achieved in comfort and safety. P2’s hull is constructed of Sealium to provide greater mechanical strength and lessen corrosion, while reducing the yacht’s overall weight. The 50-meter carbon-fiber mast has a 734-square-meter sail area, ensuring quick speeds and strong regatta finishes. The vast cockpit and spacious deck salon create an inviting living space. The cockpit can be fully protected or converted into a sunbathing area. Designer Philippe Briand worked to maintain the refined comfort and style for which Perini is known. One MAN engine gives this 155-ton world sailer a range of 1,700 nautical miles when cruising at 10 knots. www.perininavi.it (Click image to enlarge)

Custom Line 112 Next As the flagship of Ferretti’s Custom Line fleet, the 34-meter Next completes the line of planing hulls alongside the 97. While retaining the line’s sleek design and powerful performance, Next is an evolution of the Custom Line 112, with a restyled superstructure and the addition of Ferretti’s trademark water-level windows. An added hardtop, as used on the 97, provides extra shade up top. Spacious interior areas, such as the 45-square-meter salon, are highlighted by American walnut and bright color schemes. Custom Line clients can personalize the interior décor from a wide variety of woods and fabrics. The result of yet another successful collaboration between Zuccon International and Ferretti’s AYT engineering division, the composite-construction vessel reaches 27 knots at half load from a pair of 12V4000 M90 MTUs. www.customline-yacht.com (Click image to enlarge)
Cyrus 34 Vitters’ Cyrus Yachts launched its first 34-meter motor yacht in June. Cyrus teamed with naval architect Van Oossanen & Associates and Dutch exterior stylist René van der Velden for the "retro-styled" vessel. Several distinctive features are found on the new semi-custom model, including an advanced composite hull and superstructure, zero-speed stabilizers for comfort when under way and at anchor, and privacy glass in the owner’s office. Owners may customize the series yacht with a minimalist or traditional interior décor. She sleeps up to eight guests in a full-beam owner’s suite and two full-beam guest cabins. The 34’s semi-displacement hull reaches speeds up to 22 knots, powered by two 1,825-hp Caterpillar diesels. www.cyrusyachts.com (Click image to enlarge)

Custom Line Navetta 33 Ferretti premiered the Custom Line Navetta 33 at its 40th anniversary celebration in Cattolica, Italy, earlier this year. The 32.6-meter tri-deck is aimed at "mature" owners who favor range and comfort above speed. Zuccon International Project contrasted the classic external lines with a contemporary interior featuring bamboo joinery and a limed-oak sole. The design, conceived by Norberto Ferretti and created by Ferretti’s AYT engineering division with Zuccon International, boasts four notable features: two main-deck layouts, four open-view windows, a large skylounge with living area and the anti-rolling gyro system for maximum cruising comfort. The 1,360-hp MAN engines should supply a range of more than 1,300 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12.5 to 13 knots. www.customline-yacht.com (Click image to enlarge)

Azimut 103S. Photograph by Azimut Yachts Photogallery. (Click image to enlarge)

Azimut 103S When Stefano Righini designed Azimut Yachts’ new flagship from the Open S range that first appeared in 2003, he conceived a sports yacht focused on freedom. Aboard the nearly 31-meter 103S, owner and guests are offered freedom of movement between the lounge and cockpit when the connecting doors are opened. The owner and guests are also free to move about the yacht in complete privacy thanks to a separate owner’s galley and crew areas with independent access. Thirdly, those on board are granted the freedom to navigate quickly and safely because the 103S conforms to the International Code of Safety for High-Speed Craft and is powered by two reliable 2,434-hp MTUs coupled to KaMeWa waterjets. The new Open includes an upper deck accessed through the cockpit stairway and a roomy tender garage. www.azimutyachts.net

Southern Wind Mrs Seven Cape Town, South Africa’s Southern Wind Shipyard chose Monte-Carlo to internationally debut its latest 100-footer. The 30.2-meter Mrs Seven is the seventh hull in the yard’s SW100 mini-series, but the first version to be equipped with a raised salon. The new SW100RS model is aimed at owners who prefer the aggressive, sporty lines of a low coachroof and open transom, as well as those who don’t need the extreme latitude or severe weather protection provided by the previous DS (deck salon) version. Designed by Farr Yacht Design and Nauta Design and launched at the end of June, Mrs Seven underwent a month of sea trials before making the 7,000-mile voyage to the Med on her own bottom. www.sws-yachts.com (Click image to enlarge)

Darsea. Photograph by Flying Focus/Herman Ijsseling. (Click image to enlarge)

Moonen Darsea The Netherlands’ Moonen Shipyards, builders of displacement, semi-displacement and explorer models, is adding two new 30-meter "pocket-size superyachts" to its fleet in 2008. The first of these, Darsea, delivered in early spring, will be at the show. The displacement-line vessel from René van der Velden and Diana Yacht Design combines the considerable volume of 2005’s custom Moonen 96 Clementine with the ideal four-cabin layout of the Moonen 84. The 97 thus fills what Moonen sees as a need in the market for a medium-size, long-range cruiser. Art-Line styled the interiors using leather, bamboo, paneling and built-in cherry veneer furniture. The 97 is Lloyd’s classed and MCA certified, and features a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, Caterpillar engines and zero-speed stabilizers. www.moonen.com

Riva 92 Duchessa Riva’s newest model, the 92 Duchessa, fills the gap between the 85 Opera Super and the 115 Athena. As designed by Mauro Micheli and his team at Officina Italiana Design in conjunction with Riva’s technical department, the 28.2-meter Duchessa’s sharp lines inclined toward the bow make this flybridge yacht aerodynamic and elegant. Highlighting her curved and racy profile is a fiberglass hardtop over the flybridge that shelters the forward helm station, a hot tub and a dinette. The garage conceals a 3.2-meter tender or, when lowered, creates another relaxation area suspended over the water. The four lower-deck staterooms include a full-beam master, two twin doubles and a forward VIP. Owners can customize the interior from a wide range of fabrics and layouts. Fitted with two 2,211-hp MTU engines, she reaches 29 knots and cruises at 26. www.riva-yacht.com (Click image to enlarge)

Bandido 90. Photograph by ©Drettmann. (Click image to enlarge)

Horizon Bandido 90 In addition to Kamaxitha, detailed above, Drettmann will exhibit a new 28-meter hull from the Horizon Group’s Bandido series, a new line of expedition-type vessels ranging in size from 20 to 44 meters. Like other models in the Bandido line, the Bandido 90 is well suited for those wanting a sturdy, seaworthy yacht for voyaging. The Bandido combines the advantages and standards of a luxury yacht from Horizon’s Elegance line with the power and performance of an explorer yacht. The tri-deck long-range vessel is hulled in steel with an aluminum superstructure. The 90 is available with an accommodations layout of three to five guests cabins and an additional one to two doubles for crew. Optimal engine output from her twin 1,100 MTU diesels is at a speed of 9.5 knots. www.drettmann.com

Nautor’s Swan 90 FD The latest model in a long line of high-quality racing yachts, the Nautor’s Swan 90 is a winning combination of beauty, performance and elegance. The Swan 90 is available in two versions, the 90 S (semi-raised salon) and the 90 FD (flush deck), the latter of which will be on display at the show. Designed by German Frers for Nautor’s Swan, the 27.7-meter cruiser comes with hydraulic winches, a hydraulic headsail furling sail and push-button handling, giving a crew of two or three handling ability when the vessel is in cruising mode. For competitive racing, she can be crewed by a team of 20. Power comes from a Perkins Sabre marine diesel. www.nautorswan.com (Click image to enlarge)
Apreamare Maestro 80 Italy’s Apreamare drew on 150 years of experience to create the 80, the newest addition to its Maestro line, which debuted at Cannes before making its way to Monaco. Tagged as the yacht with large ideas, the Maestro 80 claims the ability to offer unparalleled accommodations in the 24-meter yacht sector. The collaboration between Zuccon International and Ferretti’s AYT division provides considerable hull and superstructure volumes. The expanded belowdecks living area features three double cabins and one twin double for the owner and guests, as well as four shower-equipped bathrooms. Pershing 80 The new Pershing 80 first presented in Cannes inherited both its sleek profile and range of high-tech features from the Pershing 72. The new 24.5-meter model, from designer Fulvio de Simoni, offers owners exceptional performance. Two standard 2,000-hp MTUs combined with Arneson ASD 15L surface propellers are expected to give a top speed of 44 knots, while a faster version with two 2,400-hp MTUs should provide a 50-knot top end. Available with either three or four cabins, the 80 boasts an exclusive extendable-retractable hardtop. The galley is separated from the salon for additional guest privacy. The Italian yard also will show its ever-popular Pershing 90. Based on the flagship Pershing 115, the 90’s open superstructure boasts spacious inside spaces and three vertical windows on each side of the master cabin. www.pershing-yacht.com (Click image to enlarge)
