A Sneak Preview of Notable Boats at the Show.

Fort Lauderdale Boat Show Preview: Must-See Megayachts

157' (47.8 m) Christensen Barchetta
The latest tri-deck motor yacht to launch from Christensen’s Washington shipyard was built to provide the ultimate luxury charter experience. Barchetta is fully equipped for deep diving with Nitrox and features a big fleet of water toys, including a three-person submarine. Her luxurious interior, designed by Jacqueline Mann in collaboration with the owner, is decorated in art deco style and incorporates elaborate "slab-only" stonework. Barchetta’s composite hull breaks ground by featuring Christensen’s first bulbous bow. The hullform was extensively tank-tested at the Webb Institute to maximize long-range efficiency and minimize fore-and-aft pitch in rough water, ensuring a smooth ride. www.christensenyachts.com (Click image to enlarge)

157' (47.8 m) Trinity Lady Linda
This gracious lady stands out in any port, thanks to her navy hull and swept-back superstructure. Built by Trinity Yachts in Louisiana, she has an aluminum hull designed by the shipyard’s expert naval architecture team with an interior created by Evan K. Marshall. Her comfortable accommodations pamper an owner’s party of 10 with luxurious amenities such as heated inlaid marble floors. Up to 10 crewmembers can be billeted on board. One of Lady Linda’s outstanding features is the centrally located Jacuzzi on her huge flybridge, which also features a bar and grill. It’s sure to be the most popular spot on board at sunset. www.trinityyachts.com (Click image to enlarge)

157' (47.8 m) Trinity Mustang Sally
Merrill-Stevens Yachts presents the Trinity tri-deck Mustang Sally at the show. While the Trinity shipyard has launched many 157-foot aluminum motor yachts, Mustang Sally—the former Lady Florence, delivered in 2005—is unique inside and out. Dee Robinson designed her classic interior, which is characterized by elegant cherry joinery with handcrafted crown moldings. Four large guest staterooms and a full-beam owner’s suite provide accommodations that serve equally well for family vacations and luxury charters. Her 14-foot teak swim platform is perfect for dining at the water’s edge. Twin 2,250-hp Caterpillars give Mustang Sally a top speed of 22 knots and a cruise of 18 knots. www.merrillstevens.com (Click image to enlarge)

150' (45.7 m) Christensen Mystic
Mystic, with her distinctive oval windows and seaworthy composite hull, blends traditional beauty with Pacific Northwest practicality. Launched in 2003 by Christensen, she is presented at the show by Merle Wood & Associates. One of the yacht’s most fascinating attractions is the live coral aquarium that divides the salon and dining room and can be viewed from each. It is framed by cherry cabinetry that matches the exquisite interior joinery. Mystic also features a convenient four-deck elevator. Her sleeping accommodations include a main-deck owner’s suite and five ensuite staterooms on the lower deck, where a crew corridor ensures swift and unobtrusive service. www.merlewood.com (Click image to enlarge)

142' (43.3 m) Richmond Sun Chaser
An Arizona businessman recently took delivery of Richmond Yachts’ flagship, appropriately named Sun Chaser. The Vancouver, British Columbia, shipyard pulled the composite yacht from the same mold that it used to build 138-foot Status Quo. The new tri-deck’s added length and volume helped to enhance a number of areas on board, including the master stateroom and bath, the main salon, the aft main deck and the galley, which is now big enough to include a dinette. The expanded flybridge layout holds a seven-by-eight-foot Jacuzzi located close enough to the half-moon-shaped bar for bathers to be served by the bartender. Ward Setzer designed Sun Chaser’s striking exterior styling. www.richmondyachts.com (Click image to enlarge)
