A Sneak Preview of Notable Boats at the Show.

Fort Lauderdale Boat Show Preview: Must-See Megayachts

137' (41.8 m) Newcastle
Founded in 1999, Newcastle Marine has quickly grown to join the ranks of the world’s major megayacht builders. The Palm Coast, Florida, shipyard offers luxury yachts and expedition vessels ranging up to 164 feet. The Newcastle 137 is the latest yacht to join the shipyard’s Expedition Series, following the 102-foot and 124-foot models. Her steel hull was designed to conquer oceans, while her eight-foot draft allows her to venture into relatively shallow waters. Luis de Basto Designs created her comfortable interior, which includes four lower-deck staterooms and an innovative full-beam owner’s suite on the bridge deck. International Yacht Collection, Newcastle’s exclusive agent, presents the 137 at the show. www.yachtcollection.com (Click image to enlarge)

133' (40.5 m) Sterling Corsta V
Midnight blue cutter Corsta V combines megayacht-level cruising accommodations with exciting speed under sail. Thanks to her high-performance hull and wing keel design, she flies at up to 22 knots in the right conditions. International Yacht Collection presents this aluminum-hulled sailing vessel, launched in 1994 by Sterling Yachts, at the boat show. Corsta V sleeps up to 10 guests in four lavishly appointed suites. Her interior décor includes artwork, antiques, fluted columns, marble stonework and gold-plated hinges. In 1997, a state-of-the-art Rondal aluminum rig was installed that gives the yacht a powerful 8,250-square-foot sail plan. Thirteen Sauer-Danfoss joysticks control her automatic sail operations. www.iyc.com (Click image to enlarge)

132' (40.2 m) Oceanfast Christine
Legendary yacht designer Jon Bannenberg’s signature strokes can be seen in Christine’s strikingly contemporary exterior. Launched by Oceanfast in 1990, the aluminum-hulled yacht underwent a significant refit in 2004. Every deck is now optimized for entertainment, whether it’s the skylounge with its custom movie theater–style seating, the aft-deck alfresco dining area or the eight-person Jacuzzi on the bow. Her luxurious accommodations include a full-beam owner’s suite with a large steam shower, a VIP suite and two guest staterooms. Twin 2,400-hp Deutz diesels provide a top end of 24 knots and an 18-knot cruising speed. Christine is presented by The Sacks Group at the show. www.sacksyachts.com (Click image to enlarge)

132' (40.2 m) Perini Navi Lady Lauren
Launched in 2001, this sleek sailing yacht is a fine example of Italian shipyard Perini Navi’s high level of craftsmanship. The result of her owner’s desire to move up to a larger yacht, she is presented at the show by Perini Navi USA’s brokerage division. A proven luxury charter vessel, Lady Lauren is designed to provide ultimate relaxation. Her flybridge and sunken aft cockpit are popular on-deck gathering spots. A large main salon and separate dining salon lie within her cherry-paneled interior. Lady Lauren’s central entertainment system includes separate inputs for MP3 players throughout the yacht. The yacht’s total sail area is 8,740 square feet. www.perininavi.it (Click image to enlarge)

130' (40 m) Mangusta 130
Built at the Overmarine shipyard in Viareggio, Italy, in collaboration with the Rodriguez Group, the Mangusta 130 has aggressive lines and blistering 36-knot speeds to match, thanks to twin MTU 16V4000 diesels combined with KaMeWa waterjet drives. She is the new flagship of the Mangusta line of high-performance open motor yachts, which starts at 72 feet. Within her contemporary yet elegant interior, expert space planning has allowed for a wealth of accommodations. The owner’s suite is full beam, with his-and-hers heads. Six guests are housed in large ensuite staterooms, and there is room still for a lower-deck media salon. The separate crew quarters are located in the foredeck. www.rodriguezgroup.com (Click image to enlarge)
