A Sneak Preview of Notable Boats at the Show.

Fort Lauderdale Boat Show Preview: Must-See Megayachts

130' (40 m) Westport 130
The 130 tri-deck motor-yacht series is a highly successful staple of the Westport line. The model’s proven composite hull, stiffened with Airex and PVC coring, was designed by naval architect William Garden to provide a smooth ride in a seaway. The 130 is also noted for her whisper-quiet operation. Gregory Marshall created the interior styling, which accommodates up to 10 in a main-deck owner’s suite, two king-berth VIP staterooms and two twin cabins. Her public rooms are spacious, and there are also plenty of intimate seating areas, including the circular foredeck lounge. Twin MTU 12V4000s provide a top speed of 28 knots. www.westportyachts.com (Click image to enlarge)

124' (38 m) Delta Casuarina
Since her launch at the Delta shipyard in Seattle in 1998, Casuarina has made six transatlantic crossings on her own bottom. The long-range composite motor yacht’s twin 1,450-hp Detroit Diesel engines were recently rebuilt, and her interior was refurbished in 2004. Built to provide casual yet thoroughly comfortable living afloat whether the destination is Alaska or the Caribbean, Casuarina sleeps eight in four staterooms, including a full-beam owner’s suite. Marble stonework in the ensuite heads provides a touch of elegance. For the serious diver, a scuba compressor is installed aboard. International Yacht Collection will present Casuarina at the show. www.iyc.com (Click image to enlarge)

123' (37.5 m) Palmer Johnson Muse
The second hull launched in a new series of 123-foot raised-pilothouse motor yachts, Muse is a composite production boat that feels like a custom project. Wisconsin shipyard Palmer Johnson teamed up with Italian design firm Nuvolari-Lenard to provide the best of old-world style and new-world engineering in a single package. Her interior features satin-finished joinery in walnut and sycamore, contrasted by fine Rubelli fabrics in earth and sea tones. The engine room boasts high-quality copper-nickel piping and superior sound insulation. When Muse is at anchor, guests migrate to the hydraulic transom bulwark that folds down to form an inviting "beach" on the sea. www.palmerjohnson.com (Click image to enlarge)

120' (37 m) Benetti Classic 120
To design the new Classic 120 line of 37-meter composite motor yachts, Benetti reunited the talented team that created its successful Classic 115 series—exterior designer Stefano Righini, interior guru François Zuretti and the shipyard’s own technical staff—and gave them access to the feedback accumulated from the 27 Classic owners to date. The new yacht updates and enlarges the 115’s layout with several significant changes, including a king-size berth facing panoramic windows in the owner’s suite, exterior wings accessible from each side of the wheelhouse and a fold-down swim platform for easier boarding. The Classic 120 also conforms to the latest MCA safety regulations. www.benettiyachts.it (Click image to enlarge)

120' (37 m) Broward 120
The rebirth of famous South Florida yachtbuilder Broward Marine is marked by the world debut of the Broward 120 raised-pilothouse motor yacht at this year’s boat show. Designed by London-based Evan K. Marshall in collaboration with the new team at Broward, the 120 has a curved aluminum superstructure and a semi-displacement hull projected to top out at 25 knots with twin 16V4000 MTUs. An owner’s party of 10, served by six crew, is comfortably accommodated in her spacious interior. Fine woodwork in a choice of cherry, maple or mahogany is nicely complemented by marble stonework in the guest areas. The Broward 120 is built to ABS A1 AMS certification standards. www.browardmarine.com (Click image to enlarge)
