Peter de Savary is a well-known international entrepreneur who,
since the age of 16, has applied his enterprising skills to many areas,
including the petroleum industry, shipping, shipyards, property, and the club
and hospitality industry, among others. He founded the worldwide St. James’s
Clubs (London, Paris, Los Angeles, New York and Antigua, West Indies); the
Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle, Scotland; and Stapleford Park, England. He also
founded the clubs at Cherokee Plantation, South Carolina; Carnegie Abbey,
Newport, Rhode Island; and the Abaco Club, Winding Bay, Bahamas. An
experienced sailor, he participated in the Admiral’s Cup in 1981 and represented
Great Britain for the America’s Cup in 1983. He is a keen horseman and,
having built seven championship golf courses, hopes to find time to take up
the game in the future.
