Lady Ingeborg’s owner chartered this shipyard’s most famous progeny, Octopussy, and had such a good experience that he decided to build a boat with Frans Heesen. As the yacht came together on paper, Heesen thought it had such potential, he obtained the owner’s permission to modify the design into a series, which has attracted five clients to date. It’s an interesting niche: a 120-foot raised pilothouse yacht with nearly all the amenities of a tri-deck, shallow draft via prop tunnels, trim tabs instead of stabilizers, low exterior maintenance, small crew requirement, five staterooms and 27 knots of speed. In addition to the slippery hull form and aggressive reverse sheer that makes her look like she’s going fast at the dock, Lady Ingeborg has a fresh, open-plan interior well suited to entertaining a large family, with adjustable staterooms below. The yacht’s reverse sheer also camouflages a spacious master stateroom forward on the main deck. The artistic structure of the flying-bridge deck creates privacy for the outdoor living areas, effectively divides crew and guests and neatly arranges the blooming antenna array that threatens to clutter the lines of many midsize yachts.
