A semi-production yacht that hits all the right notes is a
thing of beauty. It must appeal on all levels to the tastes and lifestyles of as
many people as possible. Warren Yachts’ 87-footer (26.4-meter) truly fits this
niche. Intelligent space planning within the 19-foot beam and 72-foot waterline
gives a choice of a three- or four-cabin layout. The galley/ salon separates
the cabins and is bathed in natural light—so prevalent throughout that it seems
like part of the package—from a thoughtfully conceived skylight and oval
portlights. She is dual-wired for 110-volt and 220-volt service, and engine
choices range from 1,200 to 1,800 horsepower with MAN or MTU power plants. Each
owner’s selection of wood and fabric will complement the centerline glass
sliders flanked by comfortable settees. A dining area separating the upper salon
from the helm gets the alfresco treatment when the 10-foot-wide sliding overhead
is retracted. The S87 is comfortable, visually and viscerally, and offers an
inviting palette for owners in search of the perfect yachting experience.
