Sympathetic understanding, respect and openness between the
team members involved in her design and construction are why Rasselas is the
magnificent yacht that she is. Rasselas is all about "ah-ha" moments, those
times when asking "what if?" results in brighter output from the light bulb.
Rasselas
is the product of a full tank-testing program at MIRIN, which produced a new
keel design more resistant to corkscrewing in following seas, and one where the
bilge keels are perfectly tuned to maximum precision when the yacht is cruising
at 14.2 knots, her most efficient speed. Potential for mechanical failure is
eliminated through anticipation, redundancies and crosschecking; everything from
hull openings to facilitate future machinery upgrades to anticipation of tighter
international environmental regulations has been considered to minimize downtime
and therefore loss of use to the owner. When everything from optimal placement
of the owner’s bed to elimination of dust catchers has been given thorough
advance consideration, successful yachting is assured.
