When an owner’s world is fine art, his request for a yacht with
uncommon stylishness sets the design bar uncommonly high. Because her owner
surrounded himself with project people who shared his love of fine design but
were equally driven by sailing performance, solid engineering and construction
excellence, Ghost
is not only a vision of loveliness, but she is capable
of ocean passage-making speeds of 28 knots. Ghost throws compromises
overboard and delivers a yacht so fresh in shapes, materials, layout and
finishes that it begs, no, it warrants, duplication. Technical innovations such
as an enormous three-panel glass coach roof atop all-carbon composite
construction and a hydraulic ram recessed into the foredeck to power the
halyards deserve applause. Design innovations such as pale gray deck caulking,
sleek helm pedestals that reduce deck clutter, a gleaming yet soft
post-minimalist interior, a GA that stands tradition on its head and dramatic
architectural lighting make Ghost a star from any angle.
