Shortly after the introduction of the 32-meter sloop Gliss last summer, Royal
Huisman’s Michael Koppstein expressed concern that the Dutch yard had been
pigeonholed after building the magnificent 90-meter Athena. He said in
the yard’s defense: "Athena showed that we could live up to the
engineering demands of building a 90-meter schooner. Gliss is proof that
we can also backtrack in terms of size, but apply the same expertise to a
32-meter sloop." Gliss is fetching in every regard. Our Justin Ratcliffe
wrote, "Not only is Gliss superbly engineered, but she is also a breath
of fresh air in terms of styling." Designed by Philippe Briand, her owner wanted
a yacht that offered long-distance, high-performance racing and touring in
comfort. She offers all that in a turquoise-wrapped package.
