The 177-foot CRN Ability features a full gym opening to her “beach” and a balcony off the owner’s cabin.
April 2007

Nigel Burgess London signed on the 54.2-meter CRN Ability as a central-agency sales listing. The 2005-launched Ability accommodates 12 and has already proved to be a top charter performer. In Nigel Burgess charter news, the company signed two new listings: the brand-new 61.2-meter Feadship Secret and the 37-meter Technomarine Let It Be. Secret is a De Voogt/Royal Van Lent collaboration that will begin chartering this summer in the Mediterranean, starting at $476,000 per week. Based in Athens, Let It Be is a perfect choice for cruising the Eastern Med. Also new to the charter fleet is the 296-foot motor yacht Nero. Inspired by the classic "Corsair" steam yachts of the early twentieth century, Nero blends bygone beauty with the latest technology. According to Nigel Burgess, Nero is the first truly classically styled yacht of this stature to have been built in the last 60 years. She makes her charter debut this summer in the Mediterranean, with accommodations for 12 guests and 21 crew. Rates start at $525,000 per week. Additionally, Nigel Burgess participated in the sale of the 164-foot Amels Teddy, a transaction carried out by its Monaco office. Visit www.nigelburgess.com.

Merle Wood & Associates also participated in the sale of the 164-foot Amels Teddy. Other current sales include the 100-foot Azimut Island Seeker, as well as motor yachts from Antago, Viking and Bertram. Merle Wood & Associates recently signed several new central-agency sales listings. Among them are the 192-foot Lürssen Ronin, the 157-foot Christensen Barchetta, the 145-foot Christensen Primadonna, the 105-foot XOS motor yacht XO of the Seas and a 100-foot Mangusta named Useless. Renowned architect Sir Norman Foster designed Ronin, which cruises in excess of 30 knots with excellent seakeeping and global cruising capabilities. Due for launch in May 2007, XO of the Seas is an Ed Dubois–designed motor yacht. Featured central agencies for charter include the 100-foot Broward Beeliever and an 81-foot Cheoy Lee, Equinox. The 1992 Broward Beeliever recently had a fresh update and is now available in the Bahamas for $28,500 per week, plus expenses. Visit www.merlewood.com.

Fraser Yachts has sold five yachts since the start of the year. Included in the list are the 137-foot Feadship Halcyon, the 127-foot Abeking & Rasmussen Sweet Pea II and the 90-foot McQueen Crosser. Expecting to carry on the streak, Fraser announced four new central-agency listings for sale: 142-foot Ice Lady Patagonia, 136-foot Golden Horn, 149-foot Ashena and 93-foot Fly One. On the charter side, the group signed New Vida to the fleet, a 160-foot Delta motor yacht. This summer she will cruise Croatia. Visit www.fraseryachts.com.

The Atunes family of Lisbon, Portugal, bought classic sailing icon Endeavour (sail number JK4). Atunes admired the 1934 J-Class for close to 30 years and was delighted when former Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski put her on the market. The yacht will be registered in the Cayman Islands and based in the Cascais harbor, near Lisbon. She will spend winters in the Caribbean and summers in Europe. Atunes intends to maintain the historical distinctions of the original yacht and will complete a significant refit soon. The 130-foot yacht is available for charter in the Med this summer through Edmiston & Company. Visit www.edmistoncompany.com.

International Yacht Collection (IYC) acknowledges its record-setting brokers who led the way last year in charter and sales. In the former category was charter broker Steve Elario and in the latter sales broker Mark Elliott. IYC’s recent new sales include the 154-foot Tacoma ZaZa and Becky, an 85-foot Hatteras.
