Newcastle Marine’s new 50-meter Tri-deck is the company’s new flagship and the first in a series.

Boat Asia 2005, which ran for four days in April at Singapore’s Sentosa Cove, included more than 100 exhibitors and saw a 25 percent increase in the number of visitors from last year, according to show organizer Suntec Integrated Media. The show featured display yachts from Asia’s leading manufacturers and brokers, and showcased the newest and best in marine accessories, electronics, engines, fishing equipment and personal watercraft. Next year’s show will be held April 20 – 23.

Palmer Johnson sold three 120-foot Sport Yachts and also signed a contract for a 150-foot Super Sport Yacht, which is scheduled for a late 2006 delivery. Furthermore, the company sold the first of its 123-foot GRP Raised Pilothouse series upon its debut at the 2005 Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show. A Russian client purchased a 120-foot and a 150-foot model, marking Palmer Johnson’s first sales in that region.

In January, Benetti signed an agreement with Simpson Marine for representation in the Far East. Simpson Marine will be the sales and marketing agent for Benetti’s Tradition and Classic lines. To reflect this collaboration, Benetti and Simpson Marine exhibited together at the Shanghai Boat Show. Benetti is already well established in Asia with several new and pre-owned yachts, ranging from 103 to 210 feet, sold to Asian clients in the past 15 years. Benetti is part of the Azimut Group whose brand of luxury Italian yachts has been distributed in Asia for the past 18 years by Simpson Marine.

Ocean Cruise and Bob Offer are representing the 156-foot CRN Azzurra II for sale and for select charters. A world passagemaker with an 8,000-mile range, Azzurra II received an extensive refit in 2004. Her master accommodations, located on the upper deck forward, feature a private sun deck, 11-foot ceilings and 21 windows offering panoramic views.

Bradford Marine renamed its Bradford Marine Group subsidiary and division, BMG Yachts & Ship Brokers, The Shipyard Group. Paul Engle, president of Bradford Marine, said, "We felt that The Shipyard Group name for our professional and brokerage services subsidiary will best describe the full line of services provided from our Fort Lauderdale shipyard headquarters." The Shipyard Group continues to provide comprehensive services to yacht owners, captains and crew, including yacht sales, charter brokerage, naval architecture, project management and vessel compliance and security plans.

Cheoy Lee Shipyards North America reported record-breaking sales for the month of April. Seven new contracts were signed: three 84-foot and two 64-foot Sport Motor Yachts; one 72-foot Cockpit Motor Yacht; and one 150-foot Transocean Explorer from the Marco Polo Series, a new design by Ron Holland. In addition, seven new 84s have been ordered since the new model debuted at the 2004 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. In response to the demand, Cheoy Lee dedicated a second manufacturing line to the production of the 84. Cheoy Lee also announced that its Doumen, China, shipyard achieved ISO 9001: 2000 Certification in early March.

Northrop and Johnson relocated to a new office at 17 Rose Drive in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. President Kevin Merrigan announced the construction of a new 170-foot Perini Navi ordered by one of his long-term clients. The client’s existing 152-foot Perini Navi, Tamsen, is now offered for sale. Also, Merrigan sold the 120-foot Broward Sovereign, which has joined Northrop and Johnson’s charter fleet along with the 124-foot Flagship, Shogun. Recent listings include the 105-foot Delta Marine Princess Gloria.

International Yacht Collection (IYC) has been appointed exclusive agent for Newcastle Marine of Palm Coast, Florida. On top of Newcastle Marine’s existing Expedition Series, IYC will represent a new 50-meter Tri-deck Series. The first yacht has been sold, with hull fabrication scheduled for July and launch slated for December 2007. Newcastle Marine’s latest 137-foot Expedition Series project is being built to ABS certification and is expected to debut at the 2005 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. In other IYC news, sales of pre-owned yachts continue to be strong and include Jim Eden’s central listing Las Olas, a 1990 106-foot Broward. Bob McKeage was the selling broker of Kaori, a 1990 126-foot Palmer Johnson, which entered the growing IYC fleet of managed yachts. Other sales include McKeage’s central listing Sensei, a 124-foot, 1991 Mitsubishi, and Mark Elliott and Jim McConville’s central listing Celtic Pride, a 108-foot, 1998 Westport.
