Northrop and Johnson appointed Sandy Taylor head of yacht management and support/crew placement. Taylor has worked for Bob Saxon Associates and Camper & Nicholsons in crew placement, and managed C&N’s Newport, Rhode Island, office. Moran Yacht & Ship welcomed the 192-foot Australian Yacht Builders Islander to its charter fleet. A special feature of Islander is that she is wheelchair-friendly, with widened doorways and an elevator that provides access to all decks. An upper-deck dining area with seating for 12 offers a perfect setting for alfresco meals, while the large salon and main dining area are ideal for entertaining. The dates of the second annual St. Maarten Charter Yacht Exhibition (SCYE) have been set for December 5 – 8. To improve the experience for attendees, the show committee plans to centralize the yachts and exhibitors and expand the water taxi service, allowing visitors to accomplish more in less time. Georgette Adamou of Simpson Bay Marina has been appointed co-chair of SCYE, joining Kass Johnson Halliday of Dockside Management. The SCYE is an industry-only show open to charter yachts, charter brokers/agents, sponsors, exhibitors, non-exhibiting vendors and members of the press.

In early spring, the Greek charter and brokerage company Atalanta Marine added a brand new Custom Line 112 to its charter fleet. Pandora accommodates 10 guests in five luxury staterooms and six crew in separate quarters. All guest cabins have ensuite facilities; a Jacuzzi bath is available in four of them. Powered by twin 2,775-hp MTUs, she reaches a top speed of 28 knots.

Ocean Cruise announced the appointment of Tim Clark as charter broker in its U.K. office. Clark has more than 16 years experience in the yachting industry and earned a BSc. in Maritime Studies at Warsash, U.K. For 10 years he worked as crew on a variety of yachts, and spent the last six years specializing in charter retail and management. The 174-foot Sensation Noble House, just launched in 2005, is the latest motor yacht to join the Nigel Burgess charter fleet. Noble House accommodates 12 guests in six cabins, each with ensuite bathroom. Her stunning interior is designed by the renowned François Zuretti. Other features include large sun lounging areas, alfresco dining, a Jacuzzi and gym. Her cruising schedule includes both the Western and Eastern Mediterranean.

The Florida Yacht Brokers Association (FYBA) Charter Committee held a charter yacht seminar on October 13 at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale. Speakers Barbara Buckbee of the Florida Department of Revenue, Steel Reeder of Howard S. Reeder and Peter Baker of Superyacht Technologies discussed their areas of expertise with emphasis on charter issues and concerns. Charter brokers attended from as far away as Rhode Island, New York and Italy. An open house took place on 10 charter yachts immediately following the seminar, including host yacht Christine, a newly refit 132-foot Oceanfast.
