In January the California Yacht Brokers Association elected Morrie Kirk, a broker with Orange Coast Yachts, Newport Beach, its new president. Kirk has been actively involved in the yachting community his whole life and was commodore with both the Southern California Yachting Association and Balboa Yacht Club. The CYBA, now in its 39th year, launched a new Web site that gives the public access to information about membership, board of directors, code of ethics and the process of buying a used boat. Recognizing the need for specialized brokerage services in the semi-custom 25- to 40-meter range, Nigel Burgess has created Oceanstyle Yachting. Operated by Richard Lambert and Hanneke Maljaars, Oceanstyle was launched in London with future operations planned for Athens, Fort Lauderdale, Monaco, Moscow, New York and Palma de Mallorca. Ocean Cruise opened its sixth branch office, Ocean Cruise UK Ltd, which will further enhance Ocean Cruise’s ability to deliver services to English-speaking markets. Nicholas Dean, a director of Ocean Cruise UK and former partner of Yachting Partners International, is also working with Ocean Cruise to launch Port Folio Yachts Ltd, a company dedicated to the sale and charter of superyachts. Yachting Partners International was named central agent for the 208-foot Codecasa Sokar after supervising a major mechanical and structural refit at the Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard. In other news, YPI continues its recruitment of assistant brokers, appointing Charlie Davis to work alongside Alex Braden in its Antibes office and Stephanie Archer to work with Mike Everton-Jones in the Brighton office. International Yacht Collection continues a successful year with the sale of Tim Johnson’s central listing Alessandra III, a 110-foot Hatteras, by Jim Conville. Conville also sold Il Sogno, a 78-foot Hatteras, and Christine, a 74-foot Hatteras. Jim Eden sold his central listing, the 100-foot Azimut Maratani VIII, in conjunction with Bob McKeage. Peters plc has concluded an agreement with Denmark’s Royal Denship A/S to market and distribute worldwide Royal Denship’s new range of 82- to 100-foot production motor yachts. Peters will establish a dedicated superyacht division with specialist staff and offices located in the South Coast of the U.K. and in the Balearic Islands. Designed by acclaimed superyacht naval architect Bill Dixon and built at Royal Denship’s Tuco yard, the range will initially comprise three motor yacht models: an 82-foot open, an 85-foot flybridge and a 100-foot semi-raised pilothouse.
