Northern Marine Set to Launch 151-Footer.

Northern Marine of Anacortes, Washington, made final
preparations last fall to launch its first 151-foot (46-meter) tri-deck motor
yacht. The yacht, called After Eight, was moved in December from the
company’s main building facility across the small town for fairing, paint and
interior fit-out in anticipation of a February launch. The company reported that
the yacht could be seen from most of the town. She has five staterooms including
a main-deck master, elevator access to all levels and crew quarters for 12. The
builder says her twin Caterpillar 3512B diesels will give her a top speed of 22
knots and a 20-knot cruise. Founded in 1995, Northern Marine had launched 25
boats prior to After
Eight. Originally a builder of displacement expedition
yachts, the company in recent years expanded its scope to include series-built
semi-displacement yachts. Two more 151s are in the build pipeline.
