Feadship Launches Two in As Many Months.

Feadship ended 2006 with a splash with a pair of major launches: the 51.21-meter (168-foot) Gallant Lady, from Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw in November and the 61.20-meter (200-foot) Secret, from Royal Van Lent in December. Gallant Lady is the latest in a line of Feadships bearing that name commissioned by Jim and Jan Moran and dating back to 1984. Throughout the history of the Morans’ association with Feadship, Jim has created the design for each exterior and Jan has overseen the interiors. The new Gallant Lady is built of aluminum with high-tech composites comprising her upper decks. A key styling feature is the pointed oval design of the forward section of the three superstructure decks, which helps give the yacht a sleeker look. Gallant Lady has a modern classic interior by John Munford Design with a dramatic central stairway and a glass-enclosed elevator, which contributes to an impressive main entrance. She has a full-beam owner’s suite with private aft deck and Jacuzzi and four spacious guest staterooms.

Secret (right) is another steel-and-aluminum build from De Voogt Naval Architects. She has a full-beam owner’s stateroom and carries 12 guests and 16 crew. Her modern interior design is by Jim Harris and features ebonized walnut and pickled oak joinery and a variety of exclusive marbles including Jura Gelb and Azure Aran Gold. She is powered by twin Caterpillar 3516B DITA diesels that propel her to a top speed of 16 knots. She has a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12.5 knots and is equipped with at-anchor Stabilization by VT Naiad Marine. (Click image to enlarge)
