Italy’s ISA Launches Aquamarina the Paint and Aquamarina the Yacht.
Waterfront: Dressed in Blue

ISA 154
White, flag blue, black and green: How often do you see a motor yacht hull of any other color? There are plenty of reasons for the relatively limited yacht-hull color palette, but leave it to the always-stylish Italians to break the mold. Last December, International Shipyards Ancona (ISA) launched the latest of its 47-meter (154-foot) series motor yachts to much ado. The yacht was coated with a special metallic finish on her hull and a blue pearlescent finish on her superstructure. The yacht was named after the hull paint: Aquamarina.

The owner, his team, Yachting Partners International and the shipyard worked in close collaboration planning and coordinating the various teams of specialist applicators that worked throughout the progressive stages of the yacht’s construction. Manufacturers from the Akzo Nobel Group supplied the paint system, including an Awlgrip-supplied full paint system. Sikkens provided subsequent special metallic paint finishes.

The six-stateroom yacht features an interior by Cristiano Gatto Design in close cooperation with the owner. Walter Franchini did her exterior design and styling, and ISA’s technical staff created her concept and engineering. The yacht’s twin MTU 12V4000s push her steel displacement hull to a top speed of 17 knots. She displaces 498 gross tons.

Aquamarina is the seventh steel-and-aluminum yacht to be produced to the design at the ISA shipyard in Ancona, Italy. Her launch was heralded by a fireworks show befitting her arresting paint job and was attended by some 2,500 guests.
