Maiora expands its high style with a new 33-meter addition.

Waterfront: Earthly Delight

Maiora 108
The ancient Greeks named their Earth goddess "Gaia," a moniker that the owner of the first Maiora 33 also applied to his yacht. He then labeled the cabins after Africa, Asia, America, Europa and Oceania. And like Mother Earth, this new model from Fipa Italiana Yachts is distinguished by its curvaceous, organic lines. In fact, there is hardly a straight line anywhere inside. The exterior styling, however, echoes the company’s 31DP, but with the addition of a forward-raked roll bar.

"There was demand from our clients for something to fill the gap between the 31 and 35," says Maiora Managing Director Luca Guidetti. "The extra two meters means we have been able to move the wheelhouse forward and add an additional 10 square meters to the main salon and have more outside living space, especially on the fly deck."

The main salon flows into the dining area around a central console housing a flat-screen TV that can be turned 180 degrees so it can be viewed from either side. A curving corridor to starboard leads forward to the owner’s study, but being that the option to customize the interior is central to the Fipa philosophy, this area can also be used as a media room or converted into an extra ensuite cabin.

Even the galley is a study in fluid lines, though it remains eminently practical with its light gray Corion work surfaces and circular skylight, which ensures plenty of natural light. Belowdecks are two guest staterooms with twin singles and a Pullman bunk, a full-beam master stateroom aft and a VIP suite forward. The walk-in wardrobe in the master stateroom is cleverly designed to become a separate room with sliding doors that also function as movable bulkheads.

With her deep-V fiberglass planing hull and twin 2,285-hp MTU diesels, the Maiora 33 has a maximum speed of 28 knots and a cruise speed of 24 knots. Bow and stern thrusters are standard.
