Waterfront: Follow the Rays
Sun Chaser Is Richmond Yachts’ Newest.

Richmond 142
The latest launch from Vancouver, B.C.–based Richmond Yachts is 142-foot (43-meter) Sun Chaser, a tri-deck recently purchased by an Arizona businessman. Pulled from the same mold as 138-foot (42-meter) Status Quo, Hull No. 3 features exterior styling by Ward Setzer and interior design by Sean Pavlik. Built to ABS class and MCA code, she boasts a six-stateroom layout with a bridge-deck VIP and main-deck master, which is two feet longer than that of her 138-foot predecessor. Her galley provides space for a dinette.

"We lightened the boat so Sun Chaser is the same weight as the 138-footer," says Keith Kiselback, Richmond’s chief operating officer. "The 2,000-hp MTU 16V2000 engines are half the weight, so she has an improved horsepower-to-weight ratio. And due to the modified stern angle, she is five feet longer on the waterline."

The salon is two feet longer than that of her predessor. Shortening the swim step added extra footage to the already lengthened aft main deck, and a dayhead was added to the sun deck. Sun Chaser is expected to have a top speed of 19 knots and will cruise at 16 knots.
