Attention to traffic plans and sight lines on Y702 provides privacy for the owner’s suite exterior.

Aboard a yacht, an owner’s comfort and privacy
is of foremost consideration. Y702’s size let the designers deliver both on an
elevated level. The owner’s suite on the Y701 deck is nestled on the forward
section between the main deck and the bridge deck. Designer Dan Lenard says, "A
practical decision was made to provide an exterior lounge." The private "beach"
includes a whirlpool spa, sunbathing beds and a lounge/dining area. Although the
location is well segregated from the interior traffic flow and provides for a
great degree of privacy, two extra measures were taken to ensure that outside
activity wouldn’t intrude.
One, Lenard says, was a conceptual solution that removed the
perception of crew activities on the foredeck from the owner’s area. "Once the
decision was made to have an outside owner’s deck, a non-intrusive crew passage
to the bow was required to ensure privacy," says Lenard. The solution was a
walkaround main deck. The crew can circle the entire yacht on the main deck
without encroaching on the owner’s side balconies. The second was a design
solution that opened the suite to the outside. This extended the interior and
its ambiance to the outside owner’s lounge, effectively mimicking the salons on
the aft decks.

Scale models and computer 3-D modeling were developed and
faired by Nuvolari-Lenard, and all the sight lines were considered for the
utmost privacy. "The result," says Eel Kant, oceAnco’s managing director, "was
designing the bridge and the roof above the owner’s deck so that not a square
foot of the owner’s exterior deck area is visible from any other point of the
yacht."
From the foredeck, there is no awareness of the owner’s external lounge.
Likewise, anyone lounging or enjoying the whirlpool is unaware of any foredeck
activity. Kant adds that Y702’s privacy solutions solve intrusive details that
too often are considered an unavoidable part of vessel operations.
