Northern Marine Launches Its Largest Project.
Waterfront: Kingly Cornerstone

Northern Marine 152
Splashed in late March, Northern Marine’s 152-foot tri-deck Lia Fail is the largest build to date for the Washington shipyard. She is named after the ancient coronation stone of Irish kings, which for centuries rested under the throne in London’s Westminster Abbey after being captured by Edward I in 1296. Lia Fail means "Stone of Destiny" in Gaelic.

With a 29.5-foot beam, Lia Fail (the boat) features a spacious, full-width main-deck master and four additional staterooms She is constructed of infused fiberglass and cores, and is built to both full ABS and MCA rules and regulations. A product of the yard’s collaboration with North Carolina-based Setzer Design Group, the boat’s full-displacement hullform follows that of recently delivered 130-foot Magic (SBI June/July 2005). Twin 1,200-hp Caterpillars give Lia Fail transoceanic range when cruising at 14 knots.
