Rodriquez’s first lady gives a glimpse of what to expect from its new 35- to 70-meter range.

Rodriquez 124
It was only two years ago that Rodriquez Cantieri Navali chose to add luxury yachting to its impressive roster of ship-building accomplishments. Since 1956, the shipyard has built more than 250 vessels, including fast ferries, hydrofoils and patrol boats found in various government, navy and shipping operations. Adding the former Intermarine Shipyard at Sarzana (La Spezia) to its collection of Italian marine facilities provided the company the necessary space and equipment to make the leap from ship building to yacht building, and it was this facility that subsequently delivered Light Blue. The tri-deck is the first luxury yacht to come from subsidiary Rodriquez Yachts and is the forerunner of its Custom Series.

Florentine designer Francesco Paszkowski styled the 38-meter aluminum yacht, which he describes using a swan simile. While her lines are indeed graceful, her profile might also be seen as aggressive, with classic undertones.

In creating Light Blue, Paszkowski, along with interior designer Mauro Micheli, emphasized interior volume. Thus, she features a widebody main deck with side decks that run only from the bridge deck forward and along the sides of the main salon. Her interior has been kept neat with a modern, industrial design defining the furniture and décor. Leather, rosewood and metals keep her paneling interesting, though clean, and a light color scheme keeps her open atmosphere intact. Seamless transitions are created by the free flow between the main salon and aft deck on the main level, and skylounge and bridge deck on the upper level. (Click image to enlarge)

Twin Cat 3512B engines provide her the power to reach top speeds of 25 knots. Appropriately, the yard transferred the advanced monitoring, control and stabilization technologies of Rodriquez Marine Systems customary in its commercial builds of Light Blue and will apply the same to all subsequent builds.
