Apreamare launches the Maestro 65.

Waterfront: Masterstroke

Article Specs
Maestro 65
Aimed at those for whom opulence equals discretion, Italy’s Apreamare offers up its latest masterstroke, the Maestro. At 66 feet (20.16 meters), she is the leadoff in what will be an entire range for this family-run shipyard that dates back to 1849. The current president, Cataldo Aprea, makes a solid case as an advocate of passion and pedigree. The yard’s tradition of handcrafted woodwork and rigorous finish blended with the Maestro’s gently rounded shape combine with parent Ferretti Group’s best-in-class technology and commitment to a brand-new facility at Torre Annunziata.

"This model is a significant statement by Apreamare with respect to the U.S. market," states Bob Fritsky, director of sales for MarineMax. "It appeals to the ocean-going owner and also makes an outstanding craft for the spectacular lakes and rivers in this country."

Powered by twin Caterpillar or MAN diesels, the boat’s fiberglass planing hull and proprietary ARG anti-roll system manifest their qualities in a ride and stability that will seduce prospective owners and those fortunate enough to come aboard.

Refinement abounds: the "terrace" at the stern, retro touches like roll-down windows, mahogany and cherry joinery throughout. Apreamare calls the Maestro an "offshore cruiser," but as the company’s president contends, this yacht is meant to define its own category.

"After the success of the Gozzo, I decided it was time to do something completely different," Aprea says. "The Maestro represents everything I have ever wanted to do in a boat."

Recalling his collaboration with close friend and longtime design guru Gianni Zuccon, Aprea laughs. "I only knew what I didn’t want, and that I wanted it to be unique." The Maestro is an oasis of aesthetic serenity that speaks of intimacy and romance to be found upon the sea.
