A Footloose Cat Springs From VPLP’s Design Board.
Waterfront: On Safari

VPLP 73
Catamaran specialty designers Van Peteghem Lauriot Prevost have created a robust sailing cat for worldwide cruising. Outfitted with solar panels as well as redundant watermakers and autopilots, 73-foot Safari can go far and–because she is designed to point well upwind–can get there fast. She will feature a comprehensive communications system to allow her owner to combine business with exploration. Her luxury yacht-quality interior will accommodate eight in four cabins, including a twin-berth crew cabin finished to the same exacting standards. Jazz Marine in South Africa will build Safari in composite for a spring 2006 launch.

“This is a yacht we have always wanted to design,” said Marc Van Peteghem. “We have an excellent team on the job from the project manager to the shipyard to the group here at VPLP, so Safari might well be the first of many.”
