Waterfront: Perini Hat Trick
Italian yard contracts three new megasailer projects.

Perini Navi 144 & 184
Perini Navi continues its successful relationship with Ron Holland Design by recently signing three more collaborative projects.

The first is a 44-meter sloop with a classic Perini steel hull and aluminum superstructure, but with a spacious sunning area in lieu of the flybridge. Designed in close cooperation with the client, the interior features three guest cabins and an owner’s suite that can be subdivided into two cabins, each with ensuite bathroom. The master suite has access to the lazarette, which doubles as a gymnasium.

The working main-deck cockpit has twin steering consoles, while the after-cockpit serves as an alfresco dining area for 16. Delivery is set for summer 2006.

The other two Perini-Holland projects are 56-meter ketches – the third and fourth in a series oriented toward higher performance. Each has all-aluminum construction, aluminum masts, carbon-fiber furling booms and a ballasted swing keel. The third in the series is similar to her predecessor, Santa Maria, but has a higher foredeck to stow two 21-foot tenders and an interior designed by Christian Liaigre. Delivery is scheduled for autumn 2005.

For the fourth yacht in the 56-meter series, Perini redesigned the general arrangement for greater guest privacy. The stern has an open transom, which serves as the main guest swim platform; the lateral platform is now assigned as a crew entrance. The main-deck layout also includes a corridor to separate crew traffic from the guest areas. She will be delivered in autumn 2006.
