Italy’s ISA, under new ownership, launches the 34-knot-fast 120 series yacht Midnight Sun II.

ISA 120
Now into its sixth edition, Midnight Sun II is the third hull in the ISA 120 series designed by Andrea Vallicelli in close collaboration with International Shipyard Ancona’s in-house technical office. The high-performance, waterjet-propelled motor yacht won a Millennium Yacht Design Award in 2006 and figures heavily in the shipyard’s new corporate image following its takeover last year by Yachting Investors Group (YIG), a UK private equity firm.

Fitted out with dark wengé flooring and limed oak joinery, Midnight Sun II shares several basic features with other hulls in the 120 series. First and foremost are the sweeping exterior staircases from the aft main deck to the sun deck, an ISA trademark that also distinguishes the larger 47-meter range. On the main deck, the dining room is located just forward of the glass sliding doors that open completely for semi-alfresco dining. An intelligent design solution to minimize crew movement through the living areas is the salon bar that is served by a dumbwaiter and has its own access to the portside companionway and belowdecks to the galley and crew quarters. The side-loading garage has room for a five-meter tender. Two compartments in the aft bulwarks house two Jet Skis.

The split-level master stateroom on the forward main deck features a 180-degree panoramic view forward and open-plan head on the lower level. The original client for Midnight Sun II (at press time the yacht was ownerless) opted for four guest cabins, two singles and two doubles, although there is also an alternative layout that replaces the two singles with a full-beam VIP cabin. Propulsion is provided by Rolls-Royce KaMeWa waterjets via three MTU 2000 engines for a top speed of 34 knots. The yacht is fully MCA short-range compliant.
