Benetti Sail Division Launches Compact Bluewater Motor Yacht.
Waterfront: Serious Cruiser

BSD 88
"This is a semi-displacement motor yacht for serious cruising, anchoring offshore instead of stopping in port every night," says Jean Baptiste Guerini, president of Benetti Sail Division of Viareggio (not to be confused with Azimut-Benetti). To prove his point, the company equipped the 88-foot SD Sarina with two 820-hp MAN engines and 6,000-gallon fuel tanks for a range of 2,200 miles at 11 knots.

In addition to the impressive finish of the classic cherry interior and the marble bathrooms, the most notable feature of this steel-and-aluminum motor yacht is her square transom – a departure from the more common canoe stern of the builder’s navetta-style vessel. The result is a large swim platform that carries the tender during transit. "The advantage is that the flybridge is left clear," says Guerini, "and by excluding a garage, we have more interior living space." Indeed, the yacht has five ensuite double guestrooms, including the owner’s suite. (Click image to enlarge)
