Waterfront: Styling Anew
Sanlorenzo’s SL 82 Continues the Italian Yard’s Restyling.

Article Specs
SanLorenzo 82
When Massimo Perotti assumed ownership of Sanlorenzo in April, the Italian yacht builder was already restyling its fleet: The SL108 had been launched and the SL82 was set to debut with a new look.

That new look involves profiles and aesthetics. Interior layouts and
locations of the technical spaces remain basically unchanged. The superstructure has been extended in width and length to give greater interior space, particularly forward. A cleaner profile was achieved by replacing framed windows with the glued-in type. Sanlorenzo’s 72-, 88- and 100-foot models are in line to be restyled. The new SL62 will launch in 2006.

The SL82, a collaboration between the in-house technical staff and Architects Dellarole, is the latest model to display the new, contemporary lines. The ergonomics of the flying bridge helm station received special attention. The reinforced fiberglass console and the integrated instrument panels have been redesigned for the helmsman’s comfort and to improve control. The stern transom access door is curved to complement the surrounding shapes. The engine room is just forward of the swim platform and houses two Caterpillar C32 common rail 1,670-hp engines. The SL82 cruises at 27 knots at 2,100 rpm and has a top speed of 31 knots.

Two interior layouts are available. Each features four ensuite double cabins on the lower deck, with the owner’s stateroom either amidships or in the forepeak. (Click images to enlarge)

Hull No. 1 features the amidships stateroom, which spans the beam and has a walk-in closet/vanity and a desk. Two ensuite twin cabins are forward. The crew cabin is in the forepeak.

Impeccably finished American oak displays the yard’s joinery capabilities. The main deck’s traffic flows to port, providing a direct path and line-of-sight from the aft deck, past the large salon and the eight-place formal dining area, to the lower helm. Stairs to the flybridge and the lower deck flank the portside deck access. A spacious Schiffini galley is to starboard aft of the lower helm.
