Waterfront: Thais to Italy
Asian-built San Marino 88 sports a Mediterranean flair.

Article Specs
San Marino 88
The initial decision prospective owners of a San Marino 88 must make is whether they want a raised pilothouse or the skylounge version. After that, the choice is between a widebody superstructure and one that features full walkaround main decks.

The semi-custom 88-footer (27-meter) features a one-piece molded deck and vacuum-bagged fiberglass construction built to Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK) classification. The Taiwanese yard, Cruise Line Yacht Builders, accommodates requests to build to other specifications or classifications. The yacht design is by Jack K. Huang of United Ship Design and Development Center.

The widebody configuration’s salon benefits from a generous 21-foot beam. It features spacious seating areas port and starboard and a state-of-the-art surround-sound entertainment center. A three-stool bar is to starboard of the six-place dining table, and a dayhead is tucked away portside. Forward, the country kitchen includes a circular settee.

The standard layout on the lower deck features a full-beam master suite. The sleeping area is separated from the engine room by a large athwartships master bath, with starboard entry, and a walk-in closet to port. The space includes a settee, a desk and another walk-in closet forward. Guest suites, in either a twin or queen configuration, are located in the forepeak and just aft on the port side; both are ensuite.

Three crewmembers are quartered in two cabins in the lazarette. There is a convenient stairway from the main deck, in addition to the swim-step entry.

The raised pilothouse includes an observer’s bench, a single centerline helm seat and a bridge console that accommodates a variety of electronic suites.

The flybridge is equipped with a hard top, wet bar, barbecue, spa tub and a large sunbathing area. A helm is to port with a bench seat for two; an observer’s seat is opposite and the tender stores on the aft section.
