Waterfront: Upsizing Alloy

When she’s launched next August, Ad Lib will be, by three feet, the largest motor yacht built at Alloy Yachts. Like S.Q.N., Alloy’s previous biggest, she was designed by Dubois Naval Architects, features a Donald Starkey interior, and was also built for Gary Lane, Alloy’s chairman.

Guest accommodations on the lower deck will include three staterooms, a wine cellar and a gymnasium with Pullman berths for conversion to a guest cabin. The 17-foot tender will store in the lazarette, where a portside door provides water access. The flybridge will include a bar, Jacuzzi, barbecue and dining area for eight under a fixed sun awning, and a sun pad forward of the windscreen.

Two 1,400-hp Caterpillar 3412 diesels are projected to give Ad Lib a top speed of 16.5 knots. She’ll have a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.
