Dutch yacht builder Oceanco has had a busy couple of
months—getting 217-foot Dilbar out the door, only to have 203-foot
Lady Christina charge in, right behind. The recent launch of Lady
Christina was carried out with typical Oceanco pomp and circumstance at the
builder’s 66,000-square-foot Alblasserdam facility, made even more special as it
coincided with the birthday of The Netherlands’ Queen Beatrix. With a
traditional champagne christening and thousands of balloons, everyone—from
Scottish owner to shipwrights—enjoyed a day in the shadow of the
megayacht.
Unlike curvaceous Dilbar, with its canoe stern, Lady
Christina has traditional styling inspired by Oceanco’s 2002 launch Lady
Lola. Naval architecture and exterior styling are from Oceanco, with elegant
interior décor by François Zuretti Design. The interior, which benefits from a
34-foot beam, accommodates eight guests in two double staterooms and two twin
staterooms, all ensuite. The spacious formal dining salon, amidships on the main
deck, seats 12. Crew quarters are made up of a captain’s cabin behind the
wheelhouse and six twins on the lower deck. (Click images to enlarge)
Like Lady Lola, the owner’s suite on Lady
Christina occupies the entire upper deck and has panoramic views from a wall
of windows spanning the forward part of the deck. The forward-facing
master berth takes full advantage of this wall of glass. An outdoor walkway
provides the owners their own alfresco bridge. The owner’s deck also features a
private salon, a dining area and an extraordinary split-level bath.
With steel hull and aluminum superstructure, the vessel is
Lloyd’s- and MCA-compliant. Twin Caterpillar 3512B diesels deliver cruising at
12 knots with a top speed of 15 knots. Lady Christina will travel to the
Mediterranean on her maiden voyage.
