Waterfront: Wide Open
Sleek New Italian Model Introduced at Miami Show.

Canados 90
Asked by Rome-based Canados to style the interior and exterior of its new composite-hulled Open 90 line, Miami designer Luiz de Basto took the project’s name seriously, creating a yacht that is as open to the sky as a hardtop vessel can be. The 90 features sweeping swaths of glass on both sides of the superstructure and full-length skylights extending back from the raked windshield on either side of an electric sunroof. De Basto even incorporated glass-block panels into the salon’s sole that transmit daylight from the open sunroof to the master suite belowdecks. He also opened the yacht to the sea by designing a glass swim platform.

A four-stateroom, four-bath layout fits nicely on a beam of nearly 21 feet, leaving enough room for two crew cabins. Equipped with twin 2,030-hp MTUs and Arneson drives, the 90 is projected to cruise at 37 knots with a top speed of 45 knots. (Click image to enlarge)
