  • Secretary General Lorenzo Pollicardo of the National Union of Shipyards and Nautical and Related Industries (UCINA) was named a member of the board of directors for the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC). ABYC has been developing and updating the safety standards for boatbuilding and repair over the last 50 years and is actively involved with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Pollicardo stated, "The recent election has created the possibility for a relationship between ABYC and UCINA so that their respective technical divisions may work together to internationalize one another more and more."   • Burger Boat Company celebrated the one-year anniversary of its Monaco office this spring by hosting a reception for Monaco captains at its office in the heart of the principality. At the event, Burger shared information on the six projects currently under way at the Wisconsin shipyard, including the 141-foot (43-meter) tri-deck with Andrew Winch interior, Sea Owl; the 154-foot (47-foot) tri-deck with Vripack interior, Time for Us; and the 144-foot (44-meter) traditionally styled fantail cruiser with a Ken Freivokh interior, Sycara.   • Ferretti Yachts has become the first European shipyard to meet the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Yacht Certification Standard with its 550 model. Committed to playing a large part in the U.S. market, Ferretti is now backing its imports with U.S. certifications. Yachts completing the NMMA certification process adhere to an NMMA-edited version of the internationally recognized ABYC standards. In other Ferretti news, its luxury yacht division CRN was re-designated to focus on the production and sale of composite and steel tri-deck motor yachts more than 128 feet.   • Ken Landon, former president of Key Bank’s Marine Division, was named chairman of the board of Allied Richard Bertram Marine Group (ARBMG). Landon joins George Jousma, president of the group, as head of the Florida-based company that specializes in yacht sales, service, brokerage and insurance in nine locations around Florida and Puerto Rico. ARBMG’s yacht portfolio includes Azimut, Tiara, Bertram and Benetti—the latter for which they are the exclusive North American dealer.   • Frans Felix recently joined Fincantieri Yachts’ sales and marketing team, bringing with him a lifelong career in ship and yachtbuilding.
