Earlier this year saw the official opening of YCO Crew, a new agency specializing in locating quality yacht personnel worldwide. YCO employs an extensive online database with an advanced search capability that helps match candidates with the correct position. Amico & Co and Doyle Sailmakers have joined forces. Sailing yachts seeking refit and maintenance work at Amico will now have access to services from Doyle for any type of sail maintenance—including washing, check and storage—for any type of sail. Sails are unloaded and taken to the Doyle loft in Rapallo, Italy. Amico is located in Genoa, and Doyle Italy has additional lofts in Palermo and Costa Smeralda, plus several other Mediterranean service centers. Singapore-based yachtbuilders Dauphin Marine hired a new marketing manager, Captain Thomas S. Wissmann, and opened an office in San Remo on the Riviera. In addition, Ngiam Choong Kam was appointed sales agent in charge of liaising with the European office. Dauphin’s Singapore yard accommodates up to six yachts 115 to 262 feet, sail or power. Babcock International Group bought Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth, United Kingdom. A new division, Babcock Marine, was created to cover the Devonport Management Limited group activities. James Brewer joined Broward Marine as general manager. Brewer spent much of his 30-year Florida yacht service career at facilities such as Rybovich in West Palm Beach and Derecktor Gunnell in Dania Beach. After Broward’s acclaimed first launch since its revival, the company has three boats in production, all of which have sold. A fifth hull is due to start building shortly.
