Baltic Yachts to build fast 60-meter ketch.
Waterfront: Classic on Rails

Finnish builder Baltic Yachts has signed a contract with a well-known ocean- sailing yachtsman to build the company’s largest yacht to date. To assure a modern-classic shape and maximum performance, the ketch has been co-designed by two top naval architecture offices: Gerard Dijkstra & Partners of Amsterdam and Reichel Pugh Yacht Design of San Diego. Additional hydrodynamic analysis has been performed by Frank DeBord of Annapolis, Maryland. SP/Gurit will carry out the yacht’s structural engineering and project management will be handled by Jens Cornelsen of Glückstadt, Germany.

The client was inspired by Dijkstra’s 105-foot sloop Christoffel’s Lighthouse. The new design, modeled after nineteenth century American pilot cutters and America’s Cup contenders, features a plumb bow, a long bowsprit, a traditional sheer line with high bulwarks and a beautifully sculpted stern.
