Waterfront: Comely Commuters
French Yard Inks Deals on Two More Pleasure Yachts over 100 Feet.

OCEA Shipyard, located in Les Sables d’Olonne on France’s Atlantic coast, recently signed contracts for two Commuter 108 yachts—Hull Nos. 4 and 5—to be delivered in summer 2007. Designed by naval architects Joubert-Nivelt, the Commuter 108 includes five staterooms and two crew cabins on a beam of 22-plus feet. Bureau Veritas classed and MCA compliant, these yachts will have top speeds of 18 knots and cruising ranges of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Founded in 1987 as a result of a merger between boat-builders Union Et Travail and Chantiers Pouvreau, OCEA is best known for its catamarans and commuter ferries.
