Waterfront: Cup Watcher
Briand, Beeldsnijder and Royal Huisman team up to build sail yacht.

Royal Huisman Shipyard  will launch 105-foot Gliss in 2006 – in time for her owner to enjoy the 2007 America’s Cup races in Valencia, Spain.

Designed by Philippe Briand, the performance sloop features a moderate displacement Alustar hull form with a high performance bulb keel and trim tab. A plumb bow provides maximum waterline for a hull speed of 12.9 knots, driven upwind by 6,027 square feet of sail on a 135-foot carbon fiber rig.

The Pieter Beeldsnijder interior includes a full-width owner’s suite and two guest cabins located aft. Forward are the lounge, additional guest cabin, galley, crew dinette and two ensuite cabins for four crew. A large alfresco cockpit is completely open to the deckhouse – which is actually a covered extension of the cockpit – accommodating the owner’s request for an indoor/outdoor Mediterranean ambiance.
