Venerable German Builder Signs for Largest Ever.
Waterfront: Fatherland Flagship

Abeking & Rasmussen 257
In its 99th year, German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen has contracted for its largest build ever. The 257-foot motor yacht, built for a repeat customer, will have a beam of nearly 40 feet and will be both Lloyds and MCA compliant. English firm Reymond & Langton Design is providing interior and exterior design plans to go with naval architecture by A&R’s in-house engineering department. The five-deck yacht will be made of steel and topped with an aluminum superstructure. The owner’s suite, forward on the upper deck, includes an office and a library. Six guest staterooms are located on the main and lower decks, and the vessel will feature a cinema and a sauna. The crew quarters include two mess areas on the lower deck. She will be propelled by twin 2,000-hp Caterpillars, producing a top speed of 16.5 knots.
