Waterfront: Feadship Package Facelift
New Styling Unveiled for 128-Foot Series.

With the first Feadship SL 39 well under way at De Vries (see SBI Dec./Jan. 2006), the builder unveiled a new profile and interior concepts for the second in its 128-foot series of full-displacement, transatlantic-capable mini-megayachts during last year’s Monaco Yacht Show. The SL 39 Mark II profile by Guido de Groot features a raised bow, shadow stripes along the window lines and even painted fashion plates on the superstructure for a more contemporary look, similar to the designer’s styling for 48-meter Katrion in 2004. Within the framework of a standardized hull and Engineering, the SL concept delivers a totally turnkey yacht including a five-meter tender, VSAT and all interior furnishings for about $31 million. The first SL 39 is scheduled to launch in May 2008, with the MK II in December 2008.

To complement the new styling, Feadship challenged five Dutch architectural firms to create new interpretations of its versatile modular layout options for the interior, which features accommodations for up to 12 guests, depending on the interior configuration, and six crew.
