Waterfront: Forged in Steel
An Alliance Struck between CNL and T. Mariotti Shipyard.

The ritual "first cut of the steel" on the new Admiral 54 at the T. Mariotti shipyard marked not only the start of construction on the project, due to deliver in 2008, but also the launch of a working relationship between the Genoa yard known for building cruise ships and yachtbuilder Cantieri Navali Lavagna (CNL) of Milan. The alliance has been named Admiral Mariotti Yachts and is known by its acronym AMY. (Click image to enlarge)

The 54-meter (176-foot) AMY project is the first displacement yacht in the Admiral line to have a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Luca Dini Design created the styling, while the AMY team handled the engineering. Among other innovations, the new yacht features a foldout transom that forms a relaxing waterside porch, instead of the garage found on previous Admirals. The dinghies and water toys were relocated to side compartments in the hull. Twelve guests will be accommodated in the yacht’s high-volume layout, which is topped by a partially enclosed sun deck. (Click image to enlarge)
