CRN moves its queen of the fleet into a new shed in Ancona.
Waterfront: Lady in Waiting

Italy’s CRN, part of the Ferretti Group, has moved its largest build to date into a new shed constructed especially for the yacht. In late fall, the company moved the 72-meter Clarena II into a 2,660-square-meter building hall, the largest in the yard’s Ancona facility. The shed is 95 meters long and 25 meters high.

Clarena II, designed in collaboration with Nuvolari-Lenard, is the largest of the 23 vessels currently under construction at CRN. Seven of the 23 are custom projects. Clarena was created to afford guests a convivial existence throughout the day, while enjoying a close relationship with the sea. Toward that end, an area of more than 100 square meters was constructed in the rear portion of the lower deck to serve as a "beach club." The rear hatch transforms itself into a large beach area nearly flush with the water. It features an external shower and beach chairs.

The yacht accommodates 12 guests in five suites, plus an owner’s cabin and two small cabins on the lower deck for children and domestic helpers. The owner’s apartment covers 120 square meters and is entered from a private lobby. It has a hatch that pivots down to create a balcony over the water. The owner’s area also includes a massage room and a movie projection room. The yacht’s crew will number 28 including bodyguards and a personal physician.

Clarena II’s twin Caterpillar 3516 diesels will propel her to a top speed of 16.5 knots and a cruise of 15. Her fleet of tenders includes a 10-meter Riva Shuttle that will go 45 knots, a seven-meter service tender and four PWC. The yacht is due to launch in 2009.
