Alloy’s New Sloop Showcases Innovation.

Alloy 170
Alloy Yachts will highlight its in-house engineering capabilities by equipping Kokomo, a 52-meter sloop designed by Dubois Naval Architects, with its first 500-mm gennaker sheet winches, which are rated for line speeds of 105 meters per minute. The yacht also will be the New Zealand builder’s first vessel to carry its new three-meter passerelle.

Commissioned by an international yachtsman and built to Lloyd’s classification and the MCA Large Yacht Code, Kokomo will draw just under five meters and will cruise at 10 knots on a 1,200-hp Caterpillar diesel. Her exterior features a flybridge accessed from the aft cockpit, a carbon fiber mast and in-boom furling.

Inside, her 10.2-meter beam accommodates an owner’s suite and four guest staterooms aft, with five cabins forward to accommodate 10 crew. The formal dining area seats 10. Redman Whiteley Dixon is handling all of the interior styling. Kokomo, Alloy’s third yacht over 50 meters, is scheduled to launch in August 2006.
