Outer Reef 73
Outer Reef Yachts will premiere its first build at the Miami Boat Show next year. Industry veterans Jeff Druek and Larry Saylor head the new company, based in Fort Lauderdale. They currently offer designs for 60- to 78-footers. The yachts are building in FRP at Tania Yacht Company in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The first model to debut will be a 73-footer. Characterized by lavish appointments, it features a three-stateroom layout. Although equipped with a crew cabin, the yacht is designed to be owner-operated, incorporating bow and stern thrusters and multiple control stations. The pilothouse is exceptionally spacious. Brand-name systems come standard, such as American Bow Thruster, Trac stabilizers, Headhunter toilets, Maxwell winches, Cruisair air-conditioning systems and Northern Lights generators.

Three thousand gallons of fuel offer a 1,580-nm range at an 11.5-knot cruise. Top speed will be 17.5 knots, powered by two 800-hp Caterpillar 3406Es. With optional 1,000-hp Caterpillar C18 engines, the yacht is projected to reach 24 knots.
