Italian builder relaunches Picchiotti brand with construction of 50-meter motor yacht.
Waterfront: Power to Perini

Perini Navi 50
Italian sailing yacht builder Perini Navi announced at the Monaco Yacht Show last fall that it sold the first hull of a new concept motor yacht called Vitruvius. Designed by Vitruvius Ltd., the new project combines the characteristics of the Vitruvius concept—a new type of yacht created by the French naval architect Philippe Briand—with the features of an explorer vessel, following the owner’s requirements. The 50-meter Vitruvius Explorer will be the first yacht built to the Vitruvius concept and the first motor yacht by Perini Navi under the Picchiotti brand.

"The name Picchiotti is part of the Italian shipbuilding tradition of which it was one of the founders," says Perini Navi CEO Giancarlo Ragnetti. "This project shows great affinities with the sailing universe and attests a true innovative spirit, aspects that well match the Perini Navi Group philosophy."

Design features of the yacht include a stretched waterline, moderate displacement, low center of gravity, minimal windage and easy access to the water.
