Waterfront: Rocket Launch
Oceanco’s 82-Meter Build Will Take Less Than Three Years.

The European owner of Oceanco’s Project Y702 won’t have to delay gratification for very long. Construction of the 82-meter (269-foot) steel-hulled superyacht is scheduled to take only two years and eight months—fast for a project of this size. Engineering on the yacht began in April 2005 in Oceanco’s Dutch shipyard. The aluminum superstructure was started at the same time in a separate yard just 10 minutes down the road. The hull and superstructure are currently being joined. Final delivery is expected in late 2007.

Nuvolari-Lenard created the classic interior and exterior design for the yacht, which features a helipad, swimming pool and two hot tubs. Additional spaces for entertaining also include a circular on-deck dining area, formal dining room and piano lounge. The upper-deck owner’s suite is configured as a luxury apartment with a private office, two walk-in wardrobes and a bedroom facing 180 degrees of windows. There are accommodations for 10 additional guests in a variety of staterooms, including two VIP suites. Up to 29 crewmembers also can be billeted on board. (Ckick image to enlarge)

Twin 16V MTU diesels are projected to produce a top speed of 18.5 knots and a range of 5,500 nautical miles at 14 knots, giving Y702 mastery of the seas in addition to her clear command of inner space.
