Blohm + Voss 387

German shipbuilder Blohm + Voss just signed a contract to build a 118-meter yacht with the project name of Sigma. The unique yacht features an unusual, almost submarine-like exterior styling. Not surprisingly, she is the vision of the prolific and world-renowned designer Philippe Starck, who has not been shy in expressing his aversion to traditional yachting design. She will be built under the project direction of Blue Ocean Yacht Management led by Neil Wade.

The signing of this contract furthers the shipyard’s new strategic focus on megayacht construction. It follows just weeks after the yard secured a contract for another very large yacht of undisclosed length. Sigma will be delivered in 2007.
