Alloy Yachts to build newest Kokomo for repeat buyer.
Waterfront: Third Time's a Charm

Construction of a new 58-meter performance sloop named Kokomo is currently under way at Alloy Yachts in New Zealand. Designed by Dubois Naval Architects with a Redman Whiteley Dixon interior, she is the third Kokomo to be built at Alloy Yachts for Australian yachtsman Lang Walker and is scheduled for delivery in December 2009.

Built with an emphasis on performance, the yacht will feature a powerful sail plan and a lifting keel and bulb. The mast is a towering 71 meters high and, along with the boom, will be done in carbon fiber by Southern Spars. The entire standing rigging package is composite, representing a weight saving of approximately 60 percent over conventional steel rigging. The winch package, including vertical winches and captive reel winches, will be designed and built in-house by Alloy Yachts. For ease of docking, Kokomo will be equipped with bow and stern thrusters, with auxiliary power coming from two Caterpillar diesels.

Accommodations aboard Kokomo comprise an owner’s stateroom and four guest staterooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. Up to 12 crew are housed in six ensuite cabins. She will be built to Lloyd’s 100 A1 SSC Yacht Mono G6 MCH classification.
