Waterfront: Fancy Footwork

Competitive sailor and foot-wear designer Martin Keen has joined with Timberland on a performance water shoe called Mi¯on ("my own"). The brand’s "ergomorphic" footbed molds to the foot’s shape within 12 hours, creating personalized fit. The upper ribs wrap the foot to eliminate slippage. The lace is one piece of climbing-grade spiral cord that cinches with a special cord-lock that maintains tension without constant readjustment. The shoes’ outsoles employ proprietary compounds that actually get stickier when wet. Mi¯on footwear does not retain water and is so lightweight it floats. The four-style line is priced from $80 to $115. A children’s sandal is $50.
