New sailcloth luggage features top-grade materials and construction.

There’s nothing new about
sailcloth luggage. Cruisers and racing sailors have been stuffing their gear in
it for years. A summer stroll down Newport, Rhode Island’s, Thames Street shows
evidence of its popularity.
A relatively new company called True Wind joins the club with a
collection of premium sailcloth duffels, totes, sailor bags and ditty bags. The
bags are
constructed of Dacron sailcloth custom woven for the company by
Ireland’s Hood Sailmakers. Many makers of sailcloth luggage use remnant or recycled material. The bags are durable and resistant to water, abrasion and
sunlight.
The brightly colored bags and totes feature sturdy zippers and hardware. They
weather with age and crush for easy boat storage. A number of high-profile
corporations and yacht clubs offer the line to their members and clients.
